SABS Harmony College 1 – 3 April 2022

SABS Harmony College chorus – can you spot the Pilarmonics? Some are in our stage costume, but others are incognito.

Pilarmonics were so excited to be taking part in the first in person SABS event since the pandemic hit at the beginning of 2020. In lieu of convention, this year SABS had arranged a Harmony College: a weekend of education, performance and lots and lots of singing with the Barbershop community. It was a time to receive valuable feedback on our singing and performance, learn about Barbershop, develop new singing techniques and perform the college song Sweet Caroline.

Sweet Caroline!

As well as learning and performing we had a couple of fun afterglows (singing in the bar after we have performed) which is an opportunity to get to know fellow barbershoppers, sing some polecats (songs all Barbershoppers know), and be very merry. It was a great weekend getting to know The Barbees, Barberidad and their quartets from Madrid, Deja Vu from Ireland, Fourmidable from Netherlands, our educators Simon Lubkowski, Sarah Netherton and Rhiannon Owens-Hall, and all who had come to experience and learn about Barbershop.

A fantastic weekend – we can’t wait for the next one!
